What a cutie Rufus is! I would be concerned with some of his symptoms that he could be suffering from underlying periodontal disease (problems with his teeth). This is very common in older small breed dogs. Even if you cannot see any issues with his teeth when you look in his mouth, we can often have disease below the gum line that is not detectable while the dog is awake. I would recommend an exam by his vet to see if a dental cleaning is in order. They can check his eyes and ears at that time to see if there are any concerns that need to be addressed with them. Best of luck to you and Rufus!

Hi there. Ruffi is very cute. Knowing his size can be helpful in guessing what he is mixed with. However, just by looks maybe a terrier of some sort? Health is not something that can be determined by a picture. At this age he should be seeing a veterinarian every month for vaccinations and juvenile progress examinations. They can tell you how they feel his health is. Good luck to you and Ruffi!

I'm sorry to hear that Riddlebox is so itchy! The Fritos description is a pretty common one with skin issues in dogs, as it's often associated with bacterial and yeast (a fungus) infection of the skin. Oftentimes skin infections occur secondarily to another issue that has caused a dog to lick or scratch excessively, as this damages the protective skin layers and allows infection to occur. Riddlebox has lost an impressive amount of hair along his back. It's possible that this initial hair loss could be caused by underlying allergies (to fleas, food, or the environment), mange (caused by mites), ringworm (caused by a fungal infection), or even endocrine disorders (including hypothyroidism or Cushing's disease). At this point, I'd start by taking Riddlebox to his vet for an exam and some diagnostic testing. After testing for evidence of infection as well as trying to get to the root problem, your vet will likely prescribe some medication. These may include antibiotics, anti fungal medicat

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry that Rifle has been coughing and itching. The two can be related (for example, with allergies) or they can be caused by two separate conditions. The cough can be caused by various infections (such as bacteria, viruses, or even some parasites such as heart worms), heart disease, lung disease, or many other conditions. Because a cough can have so many causes, it is important to have Rifle examined by a vet. Blood work and X-rays and possibly some other tests will help determine a diagnosis. As far as Rifle's skin goes, the itching and odor can be caused by bacterial and yeast infections, but can be exacerbated by fleas, mites, allergies, and several other conditions. While bathing him once a week can definitely help with the itch, it is important to have an exact diagnosis to treat him correctly. He may need antibiotics, a medicated shampoo, or even a change in diet to help his skin get better. The fact that he is crying out may mean that he i

This is very concerning indeed. I would highly recommend taking Rufio in to your local vet or ER vet right away. He may have a urinary blockage due to a Urinary stone, which can be life threatening. A vet visit asap is highly advised. If a stone is present they will need to catheterize him and potentially surgery may be needed to remove the stone. I do hope things work out for your pet Rufio. Best wishes and take care.
