I am so sorry that this is happening to you and Rex! I would recommend that you monitor Rex for side effects of this medication, which can include gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea or a lack of fecal production), a decrease or lack of appetite, or changes in attitude. You are most likely to see the signs above in the first 24 hours. Also, I would recommend informing your veterinarian about this to see if they would like for you to continue the medication, as I don't know how severe Rex's signs are on the skin. I hope that helps to answer your question, and good luck!

This may have started as rain rot but now it looks like there is a secondary infection. I recommend cleaning the area with iodine solution twice daily and keeping him out of tall wet grass or brush which can aggravate this. You can use fly leg protectors to keep flies off it and protect the areas. I do recommend a veterinary exam and treatment since he may need antibiotics or antifungal medication to get this resolved. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for your horse.

Hello. Chewy does offer pharmaceutical drugs, but you will need a prescription from your veterinarian to order anything. You will need to see your vet anyway because there are no medications made specifically for rodents & the doses have to be very carefully calculated & often the medications compounded to make a safe dose for such a small pet. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

I think the most reliable source to answer this question would be Merial who manufactures this medication. Call 1-888-MERIAL1, option 2, option 4. This will prioritize and transfer your message to the appropriate party.

It looks as though this product is 2% w/v, which translates to 20mg moxidectin per ml. Based on that information, Moyel would receive 0.029ml according to your vet's directions. The Quest gel is labeled for exclusive use in horses and clearly states that it should not be used in other species. As a result, I would inquire further with your vet as to their planned course of treatment. Even if they feel comfortable prescribing this medication in an off-label fashion (which is commonly done!), the volume of medication appropriate for Moyel is so minuscule that it's next to impossible to achieve accurate dosing. I would instead ask if they have recommendations for topical treatments of moxidectin or selamectin if they're more comfortable using those medications rather than injectable ivermectin. I hope that everything goes well!
