What’s the difference in cephalexin and simplicef
Cephalexin and Simplicef are both cephalosporins, so they are the same group of antibiotics, but cephalexin is the generic name for a 1st generation cephalosporin and Simplicef is a trade name for Cefpodoxime which is a 3rd generation cephalosporin (so it is a newer drug) and works better in some circumstances. I accidently gave my 70 lb dog a second dose of 150 mg of simplicef. Do I need to be worried?
You may see some vomiting and/or diarrhea. More serious toxicity is not a concern with a double dose of this antibiotic. Fast Milo for 24 hours then feed a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve if necessary.

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry that Jolly is not feeling well. There is no difference in the active ingredient, an antibiotic, between Velosef syrup vs capsules/tablets. Slight differences in the way the compound is dissolved may be present, but the activity is the same. Most veterinarians prescribe medications based on the animal's weight, so the total dose (total milligrams) needs to be the same no matter the form of the medication. I recommend asking your vet what the total amount of medication is per dose, and ensuring that the same amount is present in either the capsules, tablets, or syrup. Can I give a cat people antibiotics
My short answer is no. Cats are very small compared to humans and the dosing is completely different. This is not a safe approach. Plus, antibiotics should never be given without a prescription by a veterinarian, as inappropriate use can lead to bacterial resistance, which can cause more serious problems. My cat was prescribed Cefpodoxime for uri issues.The dosage is 1/2 of a 100mg pill once a day for 9 days .Is that to much for an 8 lb. cat??
