I live in Chicago where it gets really cold in the winter. My puppy is small to medium size. Should I consider in getting her dog booties and coat/ jacket for the winter? Or would she be fine in the winter?
For short walks, a few minutes, she can probably go out as is. If you plan on spending more than 5-10 minutes outside or if Maggie takes a long time to do her business, then you may want to consider booties and a coat. Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! Sounds like he is having quite fun in the snow! You can try using pee pads in the house or using a product called Fresh Patch ( www.freshpatch.com ). More frequent walks outside may also help stop this inappropriate urination and then rewarding him when he does urinate outside every time will help reinforce him going outside. Use an appropriate size sweater or jacket when necessary. Booties can be used to protect feet from ice and snow. You can buy these items online or in most pet stores. Brands available will depend on your geographical location. Paw protection creams should be applied sparingly to the paw pads and between toes as needed. Musher's Secret Paw Protection Wax is one of the better brands.

Do I need to buy protective boots for my dog for winter walks?

If you are going to go outside and it is very cold out, or if you will be going for long walks or on colder surfaces (not snow but ice or cold pavement) then booties are a good idea as they can get frostbite and wounds from cold on their feet.
