Hi there. Thundershirts can be helpful for some dogs, while others don't like them or don't really respond to them one way or the other. So you can try this - it may or may not help. Other over-the-counter options that might be helpful would include an Adaptil pheromone collar, along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure.

Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Some dogs respond to the thundershirt better than others, but in general, it does work very well at easing tension and anxiety in most dogs who wear the wrap. If Riley's anxiety is very pronounced during fireworks, you may want to talk to his veterinarian about anti-anxiety medications that can be prescribed. Calming chewables that have L-Theanine in them can also help as well at easing tension. I have linked an example of the calming chewables below. I hope this helps! https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetri-science-laboratories-composure-canine-bite-sized-chews

This is a common problem and dogs often get worse as they get older. I have had success with using a Thunder Shirt or other anti anxiety wrap. This seems to comfort them. Having access to a dark comfortable area such as a crate in a closet helps some dogs. There are medications your vet can prescribe also. I recommend starting with a supplement call Solliquin. This is given daily and helps the dogs learn to relax during stressful times. I've had good success with it, and there are other prescription medications your veterinarian may recommend. Please make sure to prevent Boobie from getting injured when he is scared. Thank you for using Boop by Petco to help care for Boobie.

Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco! You can always try the ThunderShirt which can be purchased at your local Pet Supplies Store or Amazon. It has mixed reviews, but may be worth a try! Calming chewables with L-Theanine in them can help as well. There are lots of different kinds available, but I recommend these (linked below). https://www.amazon.com/VetriScience-Laboratories-Composure-Medium-Large/dp/B001WOOC9S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505057605&sr=8-1&keywords=Vetri+Science+Calming+Chew Having Tux in an area of the house where he cannot hear or see the storm can help as well (comfortable basement area ). I hope this helps and best wishes to you and Tux!

There are a variety of over the counter pet specific calming medications that may or may not work (every pet responds differently). Thunder jackets can also help. The most reliable method is to pick up medication from the veterinarian. Many times a trial run is a good idea as well to make sure Toffee response to the sedatives as expected. Best of luck.
