If loud noises are the main problem, you can try to control the environment. If a storm is in the forecast or it is firework season, place her where a white noise machine is running to help mask the sounds. They make a product called a thunder shirt. It is basically a snug fitting shirt that does help some feed safe and relax while it is on. They make a pheromone collar for dogs that helps calm them also If none of these help, then talk to your vet about prescription medicine. Good question. You are doing a good job keeping her calm. Often closing them in a dark room or crate with the music on will help too. Yes, the calming supplements do help and also the thunder shirt. I use Solliquin in my practice but they do sell several kinds at PetCo. They may not fully resolve the anxiety but they will reduce it without drugs. A pheromone collar, such as the Adaptil collar, may help decrease anxiety. Gradual desensitization is also strongly recommended. Calming chews, such as Composure chews (by VetriScience) may help but they are not "magic pills". You will need to modify her behavior. This may require the assistance of a certified trainer.

Poor King! If he is fearful about being handled and bites you when you try to put on the Thundershirt, this probably isn't a good option for him right now - trying to get it on him is likely causing a lot of stress, and is also dangerous for you due to the risk of being bitten. Instead, you might want to try a DAP pheromone diffuser, or a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure for situations that tend to make him anxious - these can be helpful for some fearful dogs. If these things don't help much, you could talk to your veterinarian about whether prescription medication might be a good option for him, or make an appointment with a veterinary behaviorist for a more complete evaluation and treatment plan to help address the problem. There are a variety of over the counter pet specific calming medications that may or may not work (every pet responds differently). Thunder jackets can also help. The most reliable method is to pick up medication from the veterinarian. Many times a trial run is a good idea as well to make sure Toffee response to the sedatives as expected. Best of luck.
