It seems she might need a small kennel. There should only be enough room for her to stand up and turn a complete circle. Any other room then they tend to soil in one area and lay in another so they do not get dirty. Puppies tend to get distracted easily and may find playing and exploring outside more important than going to the bathroom. I would start taking her out on leash and staying close by you reward her with treats as she goes in the correct place.

A crate or crate training is never a bad idea. It can also serve as a safe place for Bella (as you have stated). It doesn't need to be huge either, just big enough for her to lay down, turn around and stand. Make sure there are no sharp edges and that the bars are close enough together so she cannot get her head between them.

I would recommend getting a different cage or one that requires two fingers to engage a spring. Dogs are unable to open the cages that have the springs in my experience. These are similar to cat carriers that have the spring loaded mechanism on the door. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Hello. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. It would be much easier for us to give you advice if we could see what you are referring to. Can you please post again with some photos? All I can advise you to do without seeing photos is to soak the feet in dilute Betadine solution (1:10 dilution) for 10 minutes twice a day. Please post again with photos so we can better help you. Thank you!
