My cat tends to drink my dog's water or the toilet water before drinking his own water. Both bowls are floor level and he has no issue eating cat food out of his own bowl. Both water bowla arw stilo water and are refilled at the same time so rhe wate
It maybe the dog bowl is bigger or the edge of the bowl is different. I’d try a different water bowl for him to find one he likes better. Cats can be fussy but I’m sure he’ll drink out of a different type of bowl. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Oliver.

Should I purchase a water fountain for my dog? She does drink on her own several times a day. But that sounds like a good idea. Does it really encourage them to drink more water? Is it easy to clean? I currently like to wash my dogs water bowl daily
I highly recommend purchasing a water fountain! I have one for my dogs and cats, and they love it. They are easy to clean, and have filters to help keep the water clean. Plus they hold lots of water, so you don't have to fill it up daily. There are many differing types of water fountains, and I will put a link below to a number of different ones. Is it ok for my dog to lay while she's eating? I've raised the dish to her shoulder height and now she's sitting.
JuJu is so cute! The concern about feeding a dog from a raising height is that it can predispose them to developing bloat. It would be better for her to sit or stand while eating from the bowl off the ground.

I would recommend reaching out to a veterinary nutritionist (such as the University of Tennessee's veterinary nutrition program) or online resource (such as balanceit.com) to help you determine the appropriate recipes and any supplements your dogs may need. As you are dogs of differing ages, they do have different metabolic demands that may necessitate two separate diets for the time being. Good luck!
