HI there! I'm sorry to hear about Marley's troubles. Of course the best thing to do would be to take Marley to his veterinarian to have the wound examined, to make sure it isn't too deep, and doesn't require sutures or anything else, like antibiotics. However, I understand that isn't an option at the moment A great product to use that's over the counter is Veterycin Plus wound spray or gel. Apply this twice per day, and make sure the wound stays covered where Marley cannot lick at it. If he can reach the wound, place a sock or a t shirt on him so that he can't lick all of the wound medication off once it's applied. If you notice a lot of redness, any swelling, discharge of any kind, a foul odor, or the wound is not starting to heal in 3-5 days, then Marley will need to see a veterinarian. I hope you find this answer helpful! Best of luck!

It could be a localized area of dermatitis. You can try an over the counter wound spray, like Vetericyn Plus, and see if the lesion resolves. If not, she should be examined by your vet to determine the cause and prescribe medications to treat.

You can get Nexgard at any one of our VETCO clinics in your area: ( https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and-schedules/?zip=34639 ) I suggest you use Knockout Spray ES to treat the house and a yard spray to treat the yard. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1389-knockout-es-area-treatment.aspx?SearchTerm=knockout+Auto ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-9065-vet-kem-yard-spray-32-oz.aspx?SearchTerm=yard%20spray+Auto ) You can use this hot spot medication on the lesion that he still has on his body. You will need to get him a cone collar to stop him from chewing that spot until you can get the fleas and his discomfort under control. The lesion will not heal unless he stops chewing at it. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-2846-vetericyn-plus-hot-spot-spray.aspx?SearchTerm=hot%20spot+Auto ) ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/contech-procone-soft-recovery-collar ) If he doesn't improve then you will need to get him back to the vet for an exam.

Typically puncture wounds are not closed surgically. Splints are only put on legs and they would only splint a leg if it was broken. Yes, you can clip/shave that hair from around the wound. I would need to know the name of the product you are using - I cannot enlarge or read the ingredients. The best product to use on this type of wound is Vetericyn. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-plus-wound-and-skin-care-for-dogs You will also need to keep her from licking that spot until it is healed so it is best to get her a cone to wear. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/well-and-good-e-collar Start the antibiotics as soon as you can get them.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Meco! I would check him closely for fleas as the hind end is a common spot for fleas. I like the Seresto collar, Nexgard, Advantix, Simparica and Bravecto for fleas. You can bath him in a medicated shampoo (see link) and try an antihistamine to help the scratching until your Vet appointment. If you find fleas treat them will help immensely.
