The science diet perfect weight is a very high quality food. I personally would prefer this food over the other one as I am not so fond of grain free foods. Also the label "holistic" really means nothing. With the science diet you have solid research behind the formulation and know that your dog will not lack any nutrients. Make sure that Cali also gets enough exercise to help with losing weight.

I've always had the best luck with Royal Canin and Science Diet. Not familiar with Earthborn, but that does not mean it isn't a good food choice. I have the most experience with Royal Canin between the two so I would recommend going with this brand. If Soska has problems on Royal Canin, then transition to a different food such as Earthborn. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

I think that all of these brands are about the same in terms of quality and vary mainly in marketing. None of these brands have a veterinary nutritionist on staff or have conducted any feeding trials, and they all use many 'non-traditional' ingredients which may vary in digestibility. Unfortunately terms like 'fit for human consumption' do not have any legal definition, and I would not be concerned about the use of brewer's rice in a food. I like to use this document as a guideline for choosing a pet food: http://www.wsava.org/sites/default/files/Recommendations%20on%20Selecting%20Pet%20Foods.pdf

Every dog is a little different and you may have to experiment a bit to find the food that Roscoe tolerates the best. I don't know what your budget is, or what is specifically available in your area, but here are a few brand options: Natural Balance Taste of the Wild Merrick Canidae Most of these brands offer grain free treats as well. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hello. You have quite a very handsome group of pups! The best dog foods most vets will recommend are those made by Purina, Hill's Science Diet & Royal Canin. I personally feed mine Purina One True Instincts. These may not be the very cheapest foods out there, but they are definitely more reasonable than the incredibly high priced boutique foods which are no better than the basics. Hope your guys do well & thanks for using Boop by Petco.
