Hi there. I do like the Himalayan Yak Chews for large-breed dogs - just make sure to get the largest size they have. Large bully sticks and all natural rawhide chews (I like the ones made by Raw Feeding Miami) are also good options.

Looking for a good chew toy for Jasper,we were giving him the purina dental chewz but now it seems like he is eating them to fast,tried a few different ones but don't seem to last,any suggestions?
To keep dogs entertained for a longer period of time, I like to feed dehydrated chews. My largest dogs prefers bully sticks (https://www.bestbullysticks.com/4-inch-odor-free-bully-sticks) and my smaller dog loves dehydrated fish skins (https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/beams). They also like dehydrated sweet potato chews like Sam's Yams, but I might do something smaller for Jasper like their Bichon Fries (https://www.frontporchpets.com/sam-s-yams-bichon-fries-new-larger-size-12-5-oz.html). There are a large number of dehydrated chews on the market now, so you might ask at your local pet store to see if they have any suggestions for you. Please let me know if that was helpful. You are correct that antlers and nylon bones will break teeth, but they can also cause obstructions and/or perforations in the GI tract. I recommend a Kong toy. Those are very tough chew toys that are hard to dogs to destroy. You can also fill them with treats. I'd recommend, as an occasional treat, filling it with peanut butter and freezing it overnight in the freezer. That will keep her occupied for a while.

Are elk antlers safe for dogs? I know deer antlers can break teeth but I've heard elk antlers aren't quite as hard. What about Himilayan Yak Chews? Goat Horns? Ruff roots?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! I don't know about the various chews that you are describing but I will tell you what veterinary dentists tell their clients. Never give a dog or puppy anything to chew that is extremely hard and doesn't soften when they chew it. Deer antlers are too hard and they don't soften up. So you want to look for things that are hard at first but soften with chewing such as rawhides and other chew treats. Extremely hard chews can damage and cause fractures of the teeth and roots. My dog is going through a food trial for allergies. They are thinking it might be a chicken allergy but are not sure yet, and it could be more than one. She is a year old. She is eating signature kangaroo food right now and seeing if that helps.
The key to doing treats while a dog is on an elimination diet is to use treats that have the same ingredients as the food you are trying. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is to use canned food of the variety and flavor that you are using to put in a Kong or bake into treats. Other options would be to use sweet potato chews if the food you are feeding has sweet potatoes in it (which Zignature kangaroo does not) or giving dehydrated chews that are the same meat source that you are feeding (which will be a challenge for a kangaroo food). So, for the food you are feeding right now, the best option may be to use canned Zignature kangaroo to create treats for Lucy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
