Hi there and thank you for using pet coach! I would say a medium crate would be best. This will give him plenty of room inside the crate to move around freely. You want the size of crate that allows him with a lot of free space to move around in. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.

Dachshunds tend to be snugglers, and also love to be buried (like under a blanket!). I'd look into a dog bed (or even a large cat bed) that has a [clamshell or hooded design](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/harmony-hooded-cave-cat-bed-in-grey) that she can crawl into and be covered up by it. Most smaller dogs (especially dachshunds) tend to like this [cave type bed](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/snoozer-luxury-micro-suede-cozy-cave-pet-bed-in-anthracite).

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco.\ You can use any type of filler you would like however, most of what you will find is polyester types. You can purchase "stuffing" at any fabric type store like JoAnn Fabrics. ( https://www.joann.com/sewing/foam-and-fiber/fiberfill/ ) Hope this helps. Best wishes.

If you are living in a small apartment, then a small breed dog would honestly be a better choice; in addition, smaller breeds don't need as much maintenance as a medium breed dog. You could consider a pug, a pekinese, a French bulldog, or even a chihuahua. These breeds need a minimal amount of exercise, and are very happy being lap dogs.

If the sleeping arrangements work well right now then I would probably stay with what works. If you decide to switch, and it doesn’t work out well you can always go Back to a crate at night, but it will probably take several night of retraining. I am a Tim believer in staying with what works! Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
