Thanks for reaching out. Are these birds becoming more mature, therefore hierachy changing, or competition over food, perches, territory? The daily diet should consist of some seed but also fresh vegetables (all), a protein source such as cooked beans/tofu, therefore treats can be fruit (dried, fresh). Good luck.

A commercial pelleted diet is most convenient and typically provides more complete nutrition. Recommended brands include Harrison's and LaFeber. A seed mix can be offered as well but limit amounts to prevent obesity. Fresh fruits and vegetables can also be offered. A simple search online will yield lists of acceptable fruits and vegetables.

Thanks for reaching out about Cheeya. You are correct that birds need more than seeds/pellets to thrive. A wide variety of vegetables including greens, red/orange/yellow vegetables such as carrots and squashes. Fruits are more like treats, due to high sugar content. As per handling them. It is a continuation of winning their trust and offering treats. Good luck.

Harrison's bird food is the best pelleted bird food on the market in my opinion. Most avian vets recommend it and feed it to their own birds. For more information, here is their web address: https://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/

Ideally you can feed him special bird pellets which are made from fruits and vegetables, you need to switch it gradually over a period of 10 days, bear in mind your bird will ALWAYS prefer the seed mix, even though it is bad for his health.
