You can keep the area clean with a clean washcloth to remove any debris if the bleeding has stopped. Keeping styptic powder or cornstarch on hand is also a good idea as it can be used to stop the bleeding of the nail if it happens again.

As long as it is not painful , swollen and/or does not have a purulent discharge (pus), there is no need to put an antibiotic on the wound. Of the paw swells or the toe, or if he starts to limp or bother the wound , you should take Stylo to a vet for an exam. Do not soak the paw, as this may damage the new cells that grow to heal the wound.

Gently wash the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep it clean and dry, and monitor for signs of infection. If you do see infection (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, pus), then have Snuggle seen by a vet.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Cutting a cat's nails is an important skill to learn when they are young. I would first get Iris used to holding still and having her paws handled. You can buy toenail clippers, and the most important thing to be cautious of is the blood vessel and nerve ending in the nail. Typically this is something that you can see by looking at each toenail when it is extended. Once you have seen where you want to cut you can trim each nail to an appropriate length. If she becomes irritated, I would stop and then restart on a different day. If you would like a demonstration, I would recommend reaching out to your veterinarian to see if they can show you as well. Good luck!

Any Petsmart or Petco groomer should be able to cut Brooklyn's nails. You can also go to your vet's office and they can actually show you how to trim her nails. I would just call prior to make sure they have time today, since they may not take walk in nail trims. Thank you for using Boop by Petco!
