Oxbow has the best and highest quality products for small animals. There are so many high quality foods available for dogs that it can be confusing, and marketing becomes the biggest tool that food companies have to try to give their food the "edge." Be aware that this has led to A LOT of general misinformation. I give you this information openly and honestly as a professional who has devoted the last 10+ years to the health and care of pets. Dogs (and wolves for that matter) are omnivores, meaning they have evolved to seek to eat and digest meat AND plant material. In comparison, cats (and big cats such as lions, etc) are obligate carnivores, meaning they absolutely require meat as their primary food source. While some dogs may have sensitivities to diets with grain, many dogs do not. Just like people. And for those who do NOT have a problem with grains, they are a healthy contribution to the diet. What training treats should I give chewy
The most popular training treats are soft, small treats. Dehydrated liver also works well. Certain biscuits are also made small for training purposes. As long as the treat is made in the United States, it should be fine to give. Treats should account for <10% of the daily calories because they are often higher in calories. My new kitty cat is two years old and was adopted from a shelter in July so she’s been fixed and chipped. I’m assuming they gave her whatever shots she would need. This information may be on the papers on her that I will get on Wednesday. My question
Hunny Cat is so beautiful! If you are adopting her from a shelter, she should have a check up with the vet before being given to her new home. Ask them if she has seen a vet, and if she has, then you don't need to take her into a vet now for a check up. I would only do it if she hasn't seen a vet recently. In terms of food, for the supermarket brands, I feel Purina One is the best. Other brands of food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. For treats, I like Temptations. My cats love their treats, and come running whenever I shake the bag. I hope this helps!

Nikki is adorable! Thank you so much for posting pictures. You posted about a number of concerns, so hopefully I can address all of them. As far as her teeth go, it is always recommended to have a full dental cleaning under anesthesia to resolve any underlying problems and pain, then follow up with something like a water additive to decrease additional dental calculus from forming. My favorite dental product is PetSmile, but it does need to be applied to the teeth. https://petsmileusa.com There has been a lot of evidence that increasing the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet can make a big difference for inflammation and itching. Since a diet change and adding Omega 3 fatty acids to the diet can both cause loose stool, I normally only recommend that clients make one change to a diet at a time (which includes supplements).
