All of my fish died after using a product purchased at Petco called ACUREL-F. How do I get their water safe to put in new fish?
I would recommend to have the water completely changed. New water should be ideally submitted for quality testing. Most pet stores will do this for free or a nominal fee. High ammonia levels, PH imbalances may be responsible for that as well. Oxygen concentration and quality of the filters should be determined as well. Hello! Things didn’t go so well with cichlids and I only have one remaining which I moved to a different tank. The 45 is now empty and the others besides one blue African cichlid has died. I did water tests and most came out fine except the Carbonate
Water conditioning can be complicated and I recommend to stop by your local aquarium store. They are most often familiar with the local water quality and can give recommendations specific to your location. Some areas need buffering solutions to help control things like the water pH. Pimafix is an acceptable "natural" antifungal treatment. Melafix is for bacterial infections. Kanamycin, erythromycin or metronidazole are good broad spectrum antibiotics. Fungus Cure (by API) is an excellent antifungal. You can find these medications in the aquarium section of most pet stores or even online. Follow label directions carefully and remove the carbon filter insert during treatment if indicated. The cornerstone of any treatment is to first maintain pristine water quality and stable chemistry.

what is the best way to control the ph in a discus tank?
Thanks for reaching out. There are many products available in pet stores for either adjusting pH up or down. Adding a buffer as a substrate (dolomite) could help regulate also. Maintaining water quality is obviously very important. Good luck.

Can use mineral water for aquarium. My tap water has lot of heavy metals. I have 10 galloon tank with 4 guppy 4 danio 1 silver dollar. 1silver dollar and 1 pleco died bcoz of 2 gold fish earlier in my tank. So i decided to use RO water. Can i use.
RO water is devoid of minerals and trace elements that help stabilize pH and other parameters. If you can add these after filtration then use your RO water. Otherwise, RO is commonly used to "top off" fish tanks that lose water via evaporation.
