You cannot give a cat cephalexin 600 mg, it is way too much, you need to take her to the vet in order to get an antibiotic injection and the vet will also most likely need to lance and clean the abscess.

It is a high dose (22 mg/kg is average although there is a range because of capsule sizes) and in some cases we would dose reduce this drug with kidney failure (but if your pet has early changes this may not be necessary, is case dependent). I would call your vet to check the dose, he or she may have a reason for this high dose. I hope this helps and thank you for using Boop by Petco!

Cephalexin is widely available in India under the brand name Keflex, Acfex and many more. Your local pharmacy shop should carry it or be able to order it. You should ask your pet doctor to call the pharmacist to organise it for you. Amoxicillin /Clavulanate is not an antibiotic specifically for skin infections and will not work properly for your dog's infection. https://www.medindia.net/drug-price/cephalexin.htm

You cannot if they are capsules. It is best to return to the pharmacy and get the correct dosage. If they don't have the correct size in capsules then they can give you a liquid that can be dosed properly.

Hello. Cephalexin is a good general antibiotic, but is totally inappropriate for treating ears this bad. Unfortunately, I think you need to find another veterinarian. Hopefully, your next veterinarian will treat poor Vlude's ear with a proper regimen of medications. Good luck & thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.
