Yearly vet checks, keeping up with vaccines, take Dakota into the vet whenever he isn't feeling well, keeping up with deworming and flea treatments, administering heart worm medication, and feed a good quality dog food. Also keeping the weight healthy, and regular exercise.

If Dogz is having problems moving, then I would recommend having your veterinarian examine her to determine if she is having joint problems that may benefit from pain medication. I am attaching a handout below with more information about medications for arthritis. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=587 Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Its all really just genetics and also certain breeds tend to live longer than others. Just like in people, disease and life threatening illness can hit at any age in life. Also preventative care medicine can play a huge factor in your pets lifespan as well. So its best to keep up with preventative vaccines, dental care, heartworm and flea prevention. Here is a really neat website that lists all the characteristic traits of dogs, susceptible diseases, and also lifespan averages --> https://dogtime.com/dog-breeds Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco! Take care : )

This depends very much on her current quality of life. If the symptoms from the mass are causing her pain and discomfort then yes, euthanasia is a very valid and compassionate option. If she is coping with it and otherwise well, I would wait for the blood results as there may be a treatable or manageable medical condition which could improve her quality of life. Her comfort should be the primary deciding factor, if you feel she is no longer enjoying life or able to join in with her usual routine and resolution of the cause is not achievable (for any reason) then allowing her to go peacefully is never a wrong option.

I'm glad to hear Jill is doing so well. Dog's preferences can change with the weather or just due to their own reasons. As long as she doesn't;t seem anxious or fearful outside, I think it's probably fine. Many dogs, especially older ones, do sleep a lot! Make sure she is going outside to potty at least 4-5 times a day and watch her for any signs of illness. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
