Sometimes, my cat's fur splits exactly in half right under her neck (as shown in photo). I tried brushing her but it continues to happen. This may be a silly question, but is this normal?
Wow! Nala is beautiful and very photogenic! I would suspect that Nala has a natural "part" in her fur there (like humans can have a natural part where their hair falls). It is just in a very obvious location, so it is more noticeable than if she were to have it in another location. I suspect it will remain the same throughout her life, so just enjoy her unique part. I am sorry to hear about your problem with Nala! I would consider trying the product Feliway Scratch, which encourages your cat to scratch on a desired location via use of pheremones and scents your cat can smell https://www.feliway.com/us/Products/feliscratch-by-feliway . I would also consider getting a variety of different styles of scratching posts. Some cats prefer different materials (cardboard, wood, carpet, rope), and some have a preference in orientation of the post (horizontal, vertical, slanted) or preference of orientation of fibers, so you may need to try a few different styles to find what Nala wants! It could also be a new problem such as ringworm. Her veterinarian will ask more detailed questions regarding her diet, exposure to other cats and changes in her environment on the island. Recently my cats eye has been watery n sore . Its got alot worse in only a few days . what is it ?
The water eye could be sign of a eye viral infection or even a eye scratch ( corneal ulcer). The inflammation around the eye could be self inflicted by rubbing but also early sign of skin disease. I would suggest you take Nala to a veterinarian for a closer exam. Your veterinarian may stain the cornea ( it does not hurt) an possibly prescribe eye meds and possibly oral meds. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Nala. She appears to be squinting a bit in your picture. This can mean that her eyes are painful. If the other cats she is playing with are experiencing similar signs, I suspect there is an infectious cause. I would recommend that she sees her veterinarian. She may require an antibiotic eye ointment. In the meantime, do not let her paws at her eyes as this can irritate them further. I hope this information helps!
