Hello. You have asked a very good & very important question. Many times people think they do not need to treat an indoor pet for pests & parasites, but things can come into the house, like fleas on the dog before they have a chance to die from any treatments you use on the dog, to mosquitoes to even a tick coming in on you clothes. There are many very good products for cats. My personal favorites are [Bravecto]( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/bravecto-plus-topical-solution-for-cats-63-138-lbs-single-2-month-dose) topical for cats & [Revolution Plus](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/revolution-plus-topical-solution-111-22lbs-cat). Both of these require a prescription from your veterinarian. If you want to use an over the counter product, then [Frontline Gold](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/frontline-gold-flea-and-tick-treatment-for-cats) or the [Seresto Collar](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/seresto-flea-and-tic

This situation is generally fine! The main things to make sure you do is keep her up to date one vaccines and her heartworm prevention. Ask you veterinarian about a vaccine called Leptospirosis which is commonly found in rats and can be transmitted to humans. Keep her on a monthly heartworm prevention will also deworm her once monthly (although it may not get all kinds of worms). You won't get worms from sharing the bed with Miku but you could wake up to an unpleasant surprise. Lastly, keep her up to date on her flea prevention so you don't get that in your bed. Otherwise you should be fine. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Oh my, it does sound like Mayhem has tapeworms! Yes, your other dogs can get tapeworms, but they are not directly contagious. Dogs get them from fleas, but it's uncommon for humans to get tapeworms. I would make sure all your dogs are up to date on their flea treatments and take them all into the vet first thing Monday. They need a medication called praziquantel, which is available by prescription only from the vet, to treat the tapeworms. Drontal contains praziquantel and is an excellent dewormer. I hope this helps!

You should contact your pharmacist of physician for advice on medications for yourself but if Max is still shedding worms there would still be a small possibility of you contracting them. Be sure to wash your hands after handling Max or cleaning any faeces up and always before eating

These are not harmful to humans, they need an intermediate host to be able to infect another animal, these are tapeworms that need to be treated, you will need to go to the vet in order to get deworming treatment as over the counter dewormer do not treat tapeworms.
