It may be that he has some inflammation and mild infection in his skin. Ideally, take him to your vet for an exam, especially if he seems itchy or uncomfortable. There is a great shampoo available by Duoxo that may be helpful. Typically these products are sold through veterinarians; however you can also find it on amazon. https://www.douxo.com/us/douxo-solutions/douxo-chlorhexidine. If it doesn't seem to be getting better, take him in. He may have some allergies and or another condition that needs more specific treatment. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!

Head and Shoulder is OK but not the best product for this issue. Dandruff is called seborrhea and I would use a dog shampoo made specifically for this issue like this one. It also comes as a mousse that you can apply instead of bathing with a shampoo. http://www.allivet.com/p-6684-douxo-seborrhea-shampoo-for-dogs-and-cats.aspx http://www.allivet.com/p-6678-douxo-seborrhea-mousse-for-dogs-and-cats-68-oz.aspx I, personally would get the mousse since his seborrhea is just in one location. I would use it every 3-4 days until improvement noticed. If no improvement within a few weeks I would get Pokey to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hello. This product does have some shampoo in it, so you can see if this leaves a soapy residue on Callie's coat after spraying her. If there is not too much residue, then diluting before brushing should be fine. If not, you may still need to rinse her off. They do make leave on dry shampoos & conditioners for dogs. You might want to check one of these out, too. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
