Ask your veterinarian to write a prescription for the generic form of Buprenex which is buprenorphine. Contact local pharmacies in big stores (WalMart Target, Costco, etc) that may offer more affordable pricing. Other options include Wedgewood Pharmacy ( https://www.wedgewoodpharmacy.com/ ) or Diamondback Drugs ( http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/ ). These are compounding pharmacies. Discuss other options with your veterinarian. He or she may have a preferred vendor or different options than the ones above.

You would need a current prescription from a veterinarian who has physically examined Duke. You can then place your order and submit the prescription. The pharmacy will then contact the veterinarian or clinic to confirm the prescription then fill the order.

Hello. The only way to avoid the problem is to avoid the hay. I would definitely make sure you can get & keep some bute on your farm, & the first signs of stocking up, start the bute. If you can familiarize yourself with how the weed looks in the hay, you can pick through it to remove as much as you can. Good luck & thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. Ketamine is a sedative, used primarily in horses & small animals for anesthesia. I know the rules about controlled drugs are pretty lax in SA, so all you can do is ask. If you develop any type of relationship with a veterinarian in your area, they are more apt to help someone out than a complete stranger. Laws about controlled drugs are changing rapidly in the region.

Yes, veterinarians can refuse to refill prescriptions. I realize that this can be frustrating, but some medications can have side effects or cause organ damage, requiring regular monitoring, often in the form of blood tests. Epiphen (phenobarbital), for example, can greatly impact the liver and the levels of medication within the bloodstream must be monitored to assure that the medication stays at a safe and effective therapeutic level. In the US, we also must have examined a pet within the past 12 months in order to legally prescribe any medication - including some flea and tick preventions. I don't know what regulations may exist in the UK. It may be worth another call to your vet to determine the reasons behind the refusal to refill the medication. I hope this helps to clarify the situation and that everything gets worked out for Buckley!
