Ask your veterinarian to write a prescription for the generic form of Buprenex which is buprenorphine. Contact local pharmacies in big stores (WalMart Target, Costco, etc) that may offer more affordable pricing. Other options include Wedgewood Pharmacy ( https://www.wedgewoodpharmacy.com/ ) or Diamondback Drugs ( http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/ ). These are compounding pharmacies. Discuss other options with your veterinarian. He or she may have a preferred vendor or different options than the ones above.

There are many treatment options actually. Here they are: 1) Oral joint supplements like Dasuquin or Adequan is available over the counter 2) Fish oils (pet formulated from your local pet store). These have natural anti-inflammatory properties. 3) Analgesics- strictly for pain: Tramadol OR Gabapentin from your local vet 4) Glycoaminoglycans- weekly Adequan injections for 4-6 weeks is a very effective treatment for osteoarthritis in pets. 5) NSAIDs- pet formulated only and prescribed by your veterinarian. Carprofen, Deramaxx, etc. Here is more information on osteoarthritis in pets and effective treatments to reiterate what I have suggested here. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2863

Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Phenoleptil is phenobarbital which is commonly used to help prevent seizure activity in dogs. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used such as Previcox (Firocoxib) or Deramaxx (Deracoxib). Rimadyl (Carprofen) should be avoided due to increased risk of liver toxicity. Opioid medications such as Tramadol are used with caution as these can cause increased sedation while on phenobarbital in some pets. Depending on what the cause of the pain may be, a drug such as Gabapentin which is typically used to neuropathic pain, may be a safe option. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! In the US we do not charge to write prescriptions (as far as I know). The laws in the UK must be different. Robenacoxib are prescription so there is no way to get the drug with out your Vet approving the prescription, My suggestion is to ask for a larger supply, 3 months or more with refills. That way you do not have to pay the prescription fee that often. I hope this helps and have a great day!

Hello. The only way to avoid the problem is to avoid the hay. I would definitely make sure you can get & keep some bute on your farm, & the first signs of stocking up, start the bute. If you can familiarize yourself with how the weed looks in the hay, you can pick through it to remove as much as you can. Good luck & thanks for using Boop by Petco.
