I like either Marshall's or Mazuri pelleted diets. Confirm proper environmental parameters, especially temperature. Low temps can affect appetite in reptiles and amphibians. Be sure you are offering appropriately sized prey as well. Nothing bigger than the space between the eyes. I would suggest you correct the type of pet you have in the information section. I don't think you have a tadpole if he hangs out with you on the desk. Knowing the species allows us to provide more accurate advice.

Here are a few products that may be similar for you to try out for James (cute name!) [Lafeber's Nutri-Berries](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/lafebers-nutri-berries-parrot-food): while not entirely pelleted, they are a nice mix of nutrients that are fun to eat and can be broken down to smaller sizes. [ZuPreem Avian Maintenance Natural](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zupreem-avianmaintenance-natural-bird-diet-for-parrots-and-conures): a good pelleted food that may be of a similar size to what you were feeding prior. They also offer[ ZuPreem Classic](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zupreem-classic-avianmaintenance-natural-bird-diet-for-large-parrots) which is a slightly larger size of the formulation, you may want to try out both to see if James prefers one to the other.

This is by no mean a substitute for a recovery food, recovery food have very specific ingredient that are not present in dry food. there is a very good critical care product by Oxbow i strongly recommend using it instead.

Thanks for reaching out about Malusz. The proper diet will depend on the type of tortoise. Desert, Russian, box, all have different nutritional requirements. If you can follow up with the type of tortoise, exacting diet recommendations can be given. Good luck.
