My farm animal has a puncture wound. What can I use before the vet?
Hey there. From the pictures I can't really tell what that is exactly. In general with cattle I start with penicillin and add on as needed. They will probably need to flush the area as well. You can also get some diluted iodine to pour on in the meantime. Make sure you put on some fly spray so it isn't getting parasites in the wound. Hope this helps you.

What should I feed my dog, cat, and horse, and their water needs?
Dog: A commercial diet food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. It's best to feed a dog a high quality commercial diet because it is extremely difficult to get the correct balance of nutrients a dog needs to be healthy. A dog should have as much water as they want, and it's best to have a source of fresh water available at all times. Cat: As with cats, a commercial diet is best. Cats are obligate carnivores, and they have to have specific levels of protein as well as essential amino acids in order to be healthy. Cats should never be fed a vegetarian diet as that is fatal to them. I'd recommend a high quality cat food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. My horse has persistent rain rot or mud fever, what to do?
This may have started as rain rot but now it looks like there is a secondary infection. I recommend cleaning the area with iodine solution twice daily and keeping him out of tall wet grass or brush which can aggravate this. You can use fly leg protectors to keep flies off it and protect the areas. I do recommend a veterinary exam and treatment since he may need antibiotics or antifungal medication to get this resolved.
