I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Cat is so sick! You can certainly give vitamin B12 injections at home if your vet agrees that this may be helpful for your kitty - this is a very common part of treatment for a variety of different problems, and is quite easy to do. Your vet will need to order it for you, since it isn't normally available over the counter. I know the rules about controlled drugs are pretty lax in SA, so all you can do is ask. B12 isn't likely to make your dog sick, but you can call your vet to make sure. If you have doubts, I suggest calling a pet poison helpline, such as this one: http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/contact/ If it has been less than 2 hours since your pet ate it, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than two hours and it will have already moved into the intestines.
