Because fleas are so problematic, flea prevention is essential! Commonly prescribed preventives include oral and topical medications—although injectable flea prevention is available, as well.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! In my opinion, the best two flea and tick preventative medications are Bravecto and Frontline plus. Any of those would be good options for him. Good luck and have a good night!

I think the best option would be to give your cats an oral flea medication like Comfortis. This medication is very effective and will get the problem under control fairly quickly. This will also be helpful so you won't have to apply anything else to the skin since it sounds like they have some skin issues already. I would also recommend to vacuum well throughout the house and clean all the cat's bedding (this will help remove flea eggs). I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Best of luck.

Use a fine toothed comb and gently brush her. Live or dead fleas will get caught in the comb. You may also comb out flea dirt which is digested blood. It appears as black specks similar to pepper flakes. If you moisten a cotton ball with water and rub the specks, they will leave rust colored streaks. This is evidence of flea dirt which means there were fleas on your kitten. Frontline Spray is safe to use on a kitten of Ginger's age. You will also need to treat the environment. This means vacuuming everywhere and washing all bedding. Follow up with an area treatment such as Knockout ES to prevent reinfestation. The Frontline Spray should be used monthly for at least three consecutive months, preferably year round or until she is old enough/weighs enough for a topical preventative.

If it is available, my best topical flea treatment for cats is Cheristin. It is very effective and kills fleas before they bite, which is helpful for cats with flea allergies since it is the bite they react to. Comfortis is a tablet that is also very effective, but it can cause vomiting.
