Other fun things are a safety blanket, collar and leash, id tags just in case, Benadryl tablets in case of sting etc at a rest stop, and sounds like you have the rest covered! Happy travels to you and Bella!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ivy. I do not recommend using a shock collar. I have seen severe skin injuries and infections from these collar. You can try a food puzzle toy to keep her occupied in the car when you have passengers. A citronella collar is better alternative to a shock collar, but would likely stink up your car. Finally, she could have anxiety and be stressed by passengers. Her veterinarian may be able to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication or supplement to help calm her. I hope this information helps!

Whether or not it is safe to leave your dog at your sisters will depend on your dog. If he has never been around children before or has shown any aggression towards children, then it is less safe. No dog should be left unattended around children, so it is best if your dog hasn't been around the baby to keep it in an area separated from where the baby will be- either a separate area of the house or outdoors. Some dogs are fine with babies, others may be made anxious by the presence of a baby or they may view the baby as a prey due to small size and the funny noises the baby makes. Since your dog is so small, perhaps putting it in a pen inside your sister's house would work. He shouldn't be hard to contain due to his size. Whether you should bring him with you is going to depend on where you area going- do they allow dogs? will it be very hot outside? will you have to leave the dog in a car? Can I use melatonin for my shipoo when we travel. She is very anxious in the car. My vet wants to put her on trazadone or Benadryl but I want to use something natural.
Melanonin does not have sedating properties, so it will not help with anxiety. There are a number of natural supplements that may help with travel anxiety. Poor Elvis! Some dogs do get extremely stressed and anxious on car trips - I can definitely sympathize. If you have tried natural calming supplements and herbal remedies without much luck, I would strongly suggest talking with your regular veterinarian about prescription medication such as trazodone or alprazolam to use for the car ride. These will both be much more effective than anything that you can get over the counter, since unfortunately there aren't many other OTC options apart from the things you have already tried.
