At Petco, we’re focused on purpose-driven performance, and we strongly believe that if it’s good for pets, people and planet, it’s good for Petco. We’ve been building a strong foundation for positive societal impact for more than 55 years, but we know there is still more we can accomplish together. As part of this commitment, we’re dedicated to offering pet parents more sustainable products to choose from.
We want to set a high bar for our business and drive positive impact in the pet industry.
By setting a clear target we hope that our brand partners will join us in the journey so that together, we can expand our impact even further.
Today, each of our sustainable products must meet 1 or more of the following sub-attributes (in bold):
*Petco Cruelty-Free Standard definition
Under Petco’s “cruelty-free” standards, suppliers certify that no cruel or harmful animal testing occurred in connection with the development of the product. This means that Petco “cruelty-free” products are not tested on animals outside of the product’s intended use except to ensure safety and efficacy of the product. It also means that the ingredients in the product have not been tested at any stage in the product’s development in a way that could be considered harmful or cruel to animals.
There is no such thing as a 100% sustainable product since the definition of sustainability is so broad.
Every product in our sustainability shop meets at least one of our sustainable product attributes.
Many brands we carry are making a positive impact on the planet! We’ve hand-picked the ones that specifically meet our sustainability criteria and will continue to evaluate our requirements over time.
We hope to influence other brands to join us on this journey.
